Lafayette College Athletics

J.T. (John) Pursel will begin his sixth season as an assistant coach with the Lafayette volleyball program in 2014. Pursel[apos]s main responsibilities include on-court coaching and contributing to the team[apos]s offensive and defensive strategies. He also assists in film exchange and recruiting.

Pursel, an Easton native, has acquired coaching experience at the international, collegiate, scholastic and club levels. He spent three months coaching and practicing with Plastira Plaka Volleyball in Athens, Greece and has also served as an assistant at Easton Area High School and as head coach for the Easton Area Middle School boys[apos] volleyball squad. Additionally, Pursel has been an assistant with Totally Xtreme Volleyball Club in Lebanon.

As a student-athlete at Lebanon Valley College, Pursel was a four-year starter for the Flying Dutchmen and served as team captain in his final two seasons. He also spent two seasons as a student assistant for the women[apos]s volleyball team.

Pursel is currently a middle school teacher in the Easton school district.
