Box Score

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's soccer team was officially eliminated from Patriot League Tournament contention following a 3-0 loss to Holy Cross on Saturday at Metzgar Fields.

Less than a minute after entering the game as a substitute, Holy Cross freshman forward Sarah Comeaux gathered in a loose ball and booted in a shot from the top right of the box. The score at 23:28 would prove to be the game winner.

A minute and a half later, junior midfielder Kate O'Shaughnessy took a through ball pass from sophomore Brandy Ault and placed it in the back of the net. That goal at 28:55 ensured that Holy Cross would hold the momentum for the rest of the contest.

The Crusaders tacked on a goal with 1:11 remaining in the game. Comeaux benefitted from another loose ball and won a scramble between Lafayette freshman keeper Marissa Mullins (Wall, N.J./Wall Township), and another Lafayette defender. The point-blank shot gave Holy Cross the 3-0 final decision.

Mullins (Wall, N.J./Wall Township) and sophomore goalie Ashley Wesmiller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) split time in goal for Lafayette. Mullins managed four saves and allowed on goal in the second half. Wesmiller managed just one save and gave up two goals. Senior Tiffany DeCoff made six saves in the shutout for Holy Cross (7-10-1, 3-2-1).

For the game, Lafayette outshot Holy Cross 13-9, but could not find the back of the net.

Lafayette will play its final home game on Tuesday when it hosts Colgate at 2:30 p.m.
