EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Leopards were able to hold Air Force under 10 points until one second before halftime as Lafayette cruised to a 62-53 victory over the Falcons in women's basketball action on Sunday.
Two Leopards scored in double-figures with sophomore Kim Costello leading the way with 11 points. Christel Rocha had 10 in the contest to go along with three assists and three steals.
Lafayette (4-5) started the game on a 12-2 run and continued running up the score to 29-9 before a three-pointer by Falcon captain Rozalyn Russ closed the Leopard edge to 29-12 with one second remaining before the break.
Air Force (2-6) came out of the locker room with an 8-3 run, sparked by back-to-back threes by Russ. But Costello matched that feat for Lafayette with 16:00 remaining which put the Leopards in control the rest of the way.
Russ led all scorers with 23 points and teammate Morgan Bennett also finished in double-digits for the Falcons with 11.
Jennifer Bayer and Christina LiVecchi scored nine points apiece for Lafayette with Bayer adding six rebounds. Freshman Stephanie Dorsey came in off the bench to add six points.
The Leopards play their last game of the year 2000 on Dec. 22 at ACC opponent Maryland.
