EASTON, PA - The host Lafayette Leopards were within two of Patriot League frontrunning Bucknell with less than seven minutes remaining, but the Bison went on a 9-0 run that put the game out of reach. Bucknell came away with a 63-54 victory to remain unbeaten in league play.
Jennifer Bayer continued her inside dominance for the young Leopards, tossing in 18 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, and power forward Liz Rojahn regained her shooting touch after an extended drought, canning 14 points, but no other Lafayette player topped seven points. The Leopards struggled to a 37 percent shooting night, while the visitors hit for 47 percent on the night.
The Bison were led by sensational freshman Molly Creamer, the league's second leading scorer, with 16 points, and Lori Houck, also with 16 points.
The Bison led for much of the game, but couldn't pull away by more than six points until the end. Bayer, with seven offensive rebounds, and Rojahn, hitting 7 of her 13 shots, kept the youthful Leopards in the game, even tying it five times in the first half. But the undefeated Bison were just too powerful for the hosts, and tired the Leopards out in the end.
Bucknell improves its overall record to 11-9, 6-0 in the Patriot League. Lafayette drops to 4-16, 2-4 within the league. The Leopards return to action on Monday, Feb. 7 as they host Albany as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. It is the last non-conference opponent for both squads. Game time is set for 5:45 for the women.
