EASTON, PA - Lafayette tried to slow the pace down in their second attempt at Patriot League frontrunner Holy Cross, and it worked this time. For a little while. But a barrage of Leopard turnovers took a 17-14 Lafayette lead halfway through the first stanza and turned it into an insurmountable 47-25 hole at half-time. Lafayette eventually dropped the game, 85-61

Lafayette successfully controlled the pace for the first 10 minutes, pulling ahead by three on Kim Costello' three-pointer at 11:26. But then the wheels came off.

The Leopards had trouble handling Holy Cross' full-court press, and it led to 14 first half turnovers. When the Leopards did manage to get the ball across half-court, the shot clock forced them to hurry the office, often tossing up some ill-advised shots. Lafayette only managed 21 shot attempts in the first half, as compared to Holy Cross' 33.

Holy Cross stayed true to form, putting six players in double-figures, led by Monika Rothemich's game-high 15 points. Amanda Abraham had 13, and Katie O'Keefe, Anna Kinne and Jeannette Paukert all had 11 points. MaryRose Campbell added 10, respectively.

For the Leopards, four players scored in double-figures, led by Sara Harris 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting. Liz Rojahn, Chris LiVecchi and Jen Bayer had 10 apiece. Lafayette drops to 4-19 overall, and 2-6 in the league. They face Army in the Kirby Sports Center this Wednesday, Feb. 16 as part of a televised doubleheader against Army. Game time is set for 5:45 p.m.
