FORKS TOWNSHIP, PA -
11 La Salle walks, coupled with a five-run Explorer third inning were too much to overcome, as
Lafayette dropped the second game of a doubleheader, 8-3.
Freshman Whitney Cooper started the game, but was relieved by Kathy Vassos early in the third.
Cooper gave up only two hits, but walked seven batters, allowing six Explorer runs, a deficit
that the Leopards' couldn't come back from.
The Leopards attempted to scratch their way back into things in the fourth and fifth innings,
but could only muster three runs. Gina Galati was again Lafayette's offensive star, going
1-for-2 with a double and a RBI.
Kathy Vassos performed well in relief, going 3 2/3 innings, striking out two and walking four,
but it was Talia Bilella who picked up the win for the Explorers, throwing a complete game
three-hitter.
Lafayette drops to 1-5, and travels to Philadelphia tomorrow to face the Quakers of Penn. The
Leopards return home Tuesday, March 28 to face Seton Hall in a doubleheader at Metzgar Fields.
