STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -
Wagner scored two runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, and Lafayette couldn't
answer, losing 7-3.
Freshman pitcher Kathy Vassos (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington) tossed the first complete game of her
career, but gave up five earned runs in six complete innings. She walked just two and struck
out one.
The Leopards took the lead in the top of the fourth inning when Mara Shainheit
(Mt. Holly, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) tripled and scored on a passed ball. Becky Chmielowski
(Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) walked and advance on a passed ball. She eventually scored on
Erin Allison's (Brewster, NY/Brewster) grounder to the shortstop.
Wagner, however, responded with another two runs in the bottom half of the inning, reclaiming
the lead for good.
Lafayette falls to 3-11 on the season. It returns to action this weekend when the Leopards
face Army on Saturday, April 8 in West Point, N.Y. The first game of the doubleheader
starts at 1 p.m.
