HUNTINGTON, W. Va (www.lafayette.edu) - Freshman Kerrie Kiley (Greenlawn, N.Y./St. Anthony's) netted the game-winning goal at 66:48 to give Lafayette a 1-0 win in its season opener on Friday, Sept. 1 vs. Morehead State in the Marshall University Tournament.
Kiley tallied the unassisted score off a rebound at 66:48 to give Lafayette the win. The Leopards fired off 19 shots in the match, including five from sophomore Sarah Harting (West Bloomfield, Mich./American International) and four from sophomore Emily Myers (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), 1999's leading scorer.
Sophomore Ashley Wesmiller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was strong in goal for Lafayette, registering 10 saves in her first shutout of the season. Wesmiller notched a single-season record five shutouts as a freshman in 1999.
The Leopards (1-0) will play host Marshall at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
