HARVARD QUOTES: Head Coach Tim Murphy, Quarterback Neil Rose, Tailback Nick Palazzo, Cornerback Andy Freid.
Murphy's thoughts on the performance of Lafayette: "Lafayette came out and gave us a great scheme, gave us a lot of problems on both sides of the ball right from the start. We were forced to make a lot of adjustments."
Murphy on his goals for the game: "There were two things we wanted to do: shut down the run defensively and to establish some kind of running game offensively. We probably didn't do that convincingly until the fourth quarter."
Murphy's opinion of Lafayette's game plan: "I think that Lafayette was extremely well coached today and that they just ran out of gas."
Murphy's opinion of Lafayette coming out playing man-to-man defense: "I was very surprised that they came out playing man-to-man after last week. I think we handled Brown really well but they (Lafayette) seemed very confident in their defensive backs, and for good reason."
Murphy on his team's offensive performance: "I think we got a good couple of passes in there and we were able to hit some people for a good amount of yardage. After we connected a few times and we realized that if we did a couple of things well instead of trying to do everything well, I think we had the confidence that we could move the football."
Rose on being forced to find other receivers due to the tough coverage of wide out Carl Morris: "We really aren't targeting out Carl on offense. We have some good receivers and we can run different schemes to get more of them involved for some yardage."
Rose on the Lafayette defense: "With the type of coverage they were running, it was difficult to find the open guy on the field. The different types coverage they used often times eliminated some of our options offensively."
Palazzo on his rushing performance in the game: "All I can say is that it was a team effort and that it was 10 other guys working real hard. The offensive line was getting their blocks and everyone to the fullback was picking up their guys.
Palazzo on the offensive strategy: "We all wanted to work hard and get a 100 yard game for the team and we wanted to get everyone involved to establish the run."
Freid on Harvard's defensive plan: "We just played hard to stop the run. We made our adjustments and were able to hold them."
Freid on defensive improvements that need to be made: "We have to work harder on getting to the quarterback, getting in his face and pressuring him."
LAFAYETTE QUOTES: Head Coach Frank Tavani, Defensive Tackle Mike Levy, Split End Phil Yarberough.
Tavani on team's performance: "After four games, this was definitely a disappointment. We had opportunities, but we were making mistakes in the first half that we can't be making in week four of the season. I'm going to sit down and re-evaluate preparations for the offense and defense to get a fix on things."
Tavani on the performance of Quarterback Marko Glavic: "He took a lot of punishment and is getting treatment for it... he definitely gook a lot of hits and we need more protection for him."
Tavani on performance of the defense: "Defensively, it came down to inches... the breaks of the game weren't evening out... it's not an excuse, but we can't seem to catch a break. We made a lot of defensive mistakes... I'm going to find out who/why and fix it... this is week four and it's inexcusable."
Tavani on team's attitude: "It's a team game. It takes everyone to get out of the rut of the old nostalgia... I feel like some of the old attitude is still lingering, and we have to take care of that."
Tavani on team's future: "There will be a lot of re-evaluating of personnel all over the field, Corrections need to be made. Although today was disappointing, we can't allow ourselves to get down."
Levy on defensive mistakes: "The mistakes we had were mental... we kept blowing assignments. There was too much guessing in the third downs... a lack of concentration. There are no individual mistakes, We make mistakes as a whole, as a unit."
Levy on the future performance of the team: "All three teams need to work at the same time. There were flashes of brilliance, but they need to be more consistent and last for all four quarters."
Yarberough on rotation of different quarterbacks: "It didn't really affect me, I have confidence in all three of our quarterbacks."
Yarberough on punting problems: "The ability to punt well is there, we just need to find some consistency."
Yarberough on team's mental mistakes: "We're having a problem with mental inconsistencies. As a team we need to get it together, offensively and defensively."
