ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Chris Williams scored 21 points and Robert Reeder added a career high 18 as Navy handed defending Patriot League champ Lafayette its third straight conference loss 89-67.
Navy (10-6, 2-0) took advantage of Lafayette turnovers on its first three possessions to open up a 7-0 lead.
Lafayette (6-9, 0-3) closed to 28-23 on Mike Farrell's three-point play with 4:56 remaining in the first half, but Williams converted on a pass from Reeder and then hit a 3-pointer to make it 33-23 with 4:10 left.
Navy led 40-32 at halftime and stretched the margin to 72-49 on Mike Cunningham's basket with 7:58 remaining.
Jehiel Lewis added 14 for Navy - all in the second half. Cunningham also had a career high 13 points.
Ben Saxton led Lafayette with 14 points and Tim Bieg added 13.
Lafayette is off to its worst Patriot League start since 1995-96, when it opened 0-3 on its way to a fifth place finish.
