WEST POINT, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's indoor track and field team made an impressive showing at the Army Invitational on Saturday against schools such as Albany, Binghamton, Delhi, Wagner, Williams and Medgar Evans.

Collecting first place finishes for Lafayette were freshmen Mashel Morrison (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion College), in the 55-meter dash, and Kris Carey (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) in the 55-meter high hurdles. John Farkas (Oaklyn, N.J./Collinswood)placed second in the 400-meter run with a time of 51.48. Placing third in their events were Herb Kennedy (Troy, N.Y./Troy) in the 200-meter dash and Jon Smolenski (Manor, Pa./Hempfield) in the 1,000 meter run.

"The invitational at Army could be summed up as 'the calm before the storm,'" said head coach Julio Piazza. "With the Lafayette-Lehigh dual next weekend, the men's team used this meet as a tuneup for the rivalry and to get a better handle on who would be competing in which events."

Lafayette heads to Mountain Hawk territory on Jan. 27 for the Lehigh Dual.
