NEW HAVEN, Conn. (www.lafayette.edu) -Machel Morrison led the Lafayette track and field teams at the IC4A and ECAC Championships held at Yale University by winning the 100m dash in a school record time of 10.45 seconds.
Morrison, who also held the previous school record, earned All-East honors with his performance.
The men's 4x100m relay team also broke the school record in the preliminary race in a time of 41.06 seconds. The team of James Strada, Kristopher Carey, Christopher Nixon and Morrison finished third in the preliminaries, but did not finish in the finals.
Also competing for the men's team was Richard Jackson, who finished 15th overall in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.54 seconds.
Tyler Jones and Jeff Sejour represented the Leopards in the field events, with Jones finishing 21st in the shot put with a throw of 48' 3.5" and Sejour placing 22nd in the triple jump with a distance of 45' 10.75".
The men's team finished 27th out of 54 teams. Army took the team title, followed by Rutgers, George Mason, Georgetown, Seton Hall and Rhode Island, who were tied for fifth.
The women's 4x400m relay team also broke the school record in its event, running a 3:50.11. The team of Elizabeth Rybas, Kathleen Evangelista, Natalie Bosserman and Elizabeth Hallowell finished 11th overall.
The women's 4x100m relay team of Jennifer White, Evangelista, Hallowell and Bosserman finished 22nd overall in a time of 48.28 seconds.
Representing the Leopards in the field events was Taren Weidaw, who finished 16th in the javelin throw with a distance of 130' 4".
Pittsburgh took the women's title, followed by Syracuse, Duke, Cornell and Rutgers.
