EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -Seven members of the Lafayette men's track and field team and six members of the women's team earned All-Patriot League honors after their performances at the 2004 Outdoor Patriot League Championships held at Army.
Richard Jackson (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) earned All-League First Team honors after winning the 400m hurdles in a time of 53.12 seconds at the championship meet. Jackson was also a member of the 4x400m relay team that placed second, running 3:14.75. Joining Jackson on the First Team is Machel Morrison (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion College), who finished first in the 100m dash in 10.64 seconds, third in the 200m dash in 21.57 seconds and was a member of the second place 4x400m relay team.
The final two members of the relay, Reginald Clay (Fort Benning, Ga./Columbus) and Christopher Nixon (Perrineville, N.J./Peddie School) earned All-League Second Team honors for their efforts.
Kristopher Carey (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) earned All-League Second Team accolades after placing second at the championship meet in the 110m high hurdles in a time of 15.05 seconds. Tyler Jones (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) was also named to the Second Team for his second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 15.65 meters. Tom Kennedy (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Southside) was the final men's honoree, earning a spot on the All-League Second Team for his 1:52.57 second place finish in the 800m run.
The Leopard women were led by the championship 4x400m relay team of Elizabeth Rybas (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy), Natalie Bosserman (Arden, N.C./T.C. Roberson), Elizabeth Hallowell (Ottsville, Pa./Palisades) and Kathleen Evangelista (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson), who ran a time of 3:350.80. Evangelista also placed second in the 400m hurdles in 1:03.92, behind teammate and fellow First Team honoree Deborah Fink (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), who won the event in a time of 1:03.33.
Taren Weidaw (Allentown, Pa./Dieruff) also earned All-League First Team accolades after winning the javelin throw at the championship meet with a distance of 39.87 meters.
Several members of the Lafayette track and field team will be participating at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on May 15-16, held at Yale University.
