LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - Tanya Cross scored 15 points, and made eight of nine foul shots in the final 3:21, to lead Rider to a 70-63 victory over the Lafayette women's basketball team.
For Lafayette (4-8), Jennifer Bayer compiled a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds, and Colleen Fitzpatrick added 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Also scoring in double figures for the Leopards was Christel Rocha with 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
With the score tied at 52-52 with eight minutes remaining, Rider (2-9) went on an 11-3 run, with five points by Robin Stein, to take a 63-55 lead with 3:50 left.
The game featured 11 lead changes and 11 ties. Bayer scored Lafayette's first seven points of the game, and tied the score for the final time at 52-52.
Rider led 29-26 at the half.
The Leopards wrap up a four-game road stand this Saturday, Jan. 6, when they travel to Albany for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
