Box Score

ALBANY, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Jess McGinlay came off the bench to score 16 points and nailed the game-winning three-pointer with 6.8 seconds remaining as Albany came back to defeat Lafayette, 60-59, on Saturday evening.

Albany (3-12) rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit as they used a 15-3 run midway through the second half to take its first lead of the game, 51-50, at the 6:02 mark on a McGinlay free throw. McGinlay had six points during the spurt.

With the score tied at 57, Lafayette's (4-9) Jen Bayer, who finished with a game-high 21 points and seven rebounds, made a lay-up and was fouled with 27.1 seconds. Bayer missed the three-point attempt and Albany dribbled the ball up the floor and held for the last shot. McGinlay hit a three-pointer from the right wing off a Chris Gray pass.

Lafayette's Christel Rocha attempted a three at the buzzer, but the shot fell short. The Great Danes held the Leopards to just 19 second-half points.

Lafayette jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the first four minutes of the opening stanza on a lay-up by Colleen Fitzpatrick. Albany responded with nine of the game's next 11 points to tie the score at 13 on Dawn DiMicco's jumper.

The Leopards, who shot 70.8 percent in the period, used a 13-4 spurt to advance the score to 26-17 with 6:15 left. Lafayette led 40-30 at the intermission.

Lafayette returns home for two games starting on Wednesday, Jan. 10, when arch rival Lehigh visits the Allan P. Kirby Sports Center for a 5:45 tip-off. The Leopards then host Bucknell on Saturday, Jan. 13, in a 1 p.m. start. Tickets are still available for both games and can be purchased right here at GoLeopards.com.
