MIAMI (AP) - Darius Rice scored 15 of his team-high 20 points in the second half to lead the Miami Hurricanes to a 79-69 win over Lafayette on Saturday.

Miami (4-0) is off to its best start since the 1997-98 season.

The Hurricanes took a 38-30 halftime lead, but the Leopards (1-2) cut it to one point with a 7-0 run to start the second half.

Miami then came back with a 21-1 run, led by Rice's three 3-point shots. Rice hit 5-of-7 3-pointers in the second half, after not hitting any in the first half.

The Hurricanes shot 62 percent from behind the 3-point arc in the second half after only connecting on 1-of-6 in the first half.

Shooting guard Marcus Barnes, who was benched in the first half after being late to practice this week, also was instrumental in Miami's early second half run. Barnes hit two key three-pointers and finished with 12 points in 13 minutes.

Michael Simmons, who started in place of Barnes, scored 11 points, and James Jones added 10 for Miami.

Winston Davis led the Leopards with 15 points.

Also scoring in double figures for Lafayette were Justin DeBerry with 12 points and both Brian Burke and Mike Farrell with 11 points.

The Leopards return to Easton for their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 27 vs. St. Peter's at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased right here at GoLeopards.com.
