PHILADELPHIA - Drexel's Michelle Maslowski scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead her team to a 79-51 win over Lafayette on Friday at the Daskalakis Center. The Leopards fell to 1-7 overall while Drexel improved to 6-2.
The Dragons took a 10-point lead in the first half before Lafayette fought back to trail 24-22 off a three-point play by junior center Jennifer Bayer. It was as close as the Leopards would come as Drexel stretched its lead to 14 at the break thanks in part to Maslowski's 18-point first-half effort.
Drexel dominated the second half, increasing its lead to as many as 30 points and shooting 49 percent from the floor. The Dragons outrebounded Lafayette 42-32 and committed 20 turnovers to the Leopards' 32.
Drexel had three players reach double figures including Maslowski with 24 while Jessica Copskey and Viktoria Hollosy each netted 12 points. Meghan McIntyre pulled in seven boards to pace the Dragons.
Lafayette's Jennifer Bayer had a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Leopards. Colleen Fitzpatrick followed with nine points while Lindsay Myers pulled in nine rebounds.
Lafayette returns to action on Dec. 28 and 29 when it travels to Hanover, N.H. for the Big Sky Restaurant Group/Dartmouth Classic. The 'Pards face host Dartmouth on Friday at 8 p.m.
