EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's basketball team hit a school-record 18 three-pointers en route to a 93-84 win over Howard on Sunday at Kirby Sports Center.

Lafayette (6-5) used a 75 percent three-point shooting mark in the first half to take a 28-19 lead at 11:52. The Leopards went 12-for-16 from behind the arc including 4-of-5 from senior Mick Kuberka in the opening half. For the game, the Leopards shot a season-high 69 percent from three-point land.

Howard (6-6) fought back later in the opening half to take a 32-30 lead off a three-pointer by Ali Abdullah. The Bison stretched their lead to four on a Jonathan Stokes three-pointer with 3:58 left in the half. Lafayette went on a 12-2 run in the final minutes to take a 48-41 lead at halftime.

Howard's Darren Kennedy scored off a fast-break layup to give his team its first lead of the second half, going ahead 60-58. Lafayette's Andrew Pleick quickly erased the Howard lead with a three-pointer at 10:52, as the home team took control for the remainder of the game. Pleick finished with a career-high nine points.

The Leopards had four players reach double figures led by Brian Burke with 19 points, Ben Saxton with 18, Mike Farrell with a career-high 17 points and Kuberka with 13 points.

Lafayette shot 47 percent from the floor while Howard managed 38 percent. The Bison had six players in double digits including Kennedy with 16, Mario Grove and Aki Thomas with 13 and Kyle Williams and Ron Williamson with 11. Abdullah added 10 points while grabbing a game-high six steals.

Lafayette returns to action in 2002 when it plays host to Rider in game two of a doubleheader at Kirby Sports Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
