Mike McGarvey have chosen senior 
Ryan Pettit and junior 
Mark Butler to serve as captains for the 2025-26 season.
"Ryan and Mark continue to represent our team well on and off the court," McGarvey said. "We're excited to announce them as this year's captains."
Pettit, in his second stint as a captain, played in 33 and started in 13 games last year. He recorded a season-high 14 points on Dec. 1 against Binghamton. The Westfield, N.J. native's 49 steals and 1.53 steals per game in 2024-25 rank him fifth in the conference and a top-200 contender in the nation. The guard made a career-high four heists at George Washington on Dec. 18.
Butler, a junior guard, was the only Leopard to start in every single contest up to Feb. 15, when he was sidelined due to injury against Bucknell. Prior to the end of his sophomore campaign, he helped Lafayette to the third-best assist/turnover ratio in the Patriot League at 1.3. The Philadelphia, Pa. native led the conference and was 40
th in the NCAA with a 2.58 ratio of his own. In total, he dished 80 assists and kept to 31 turnovers last year. His previous season-high 13 points and six assists were both produced on Feb. 1 at Colgate.
Lafayette returns nine players from 2024-25, including four who started in 10 or more contests. The squad added six freshmen and one sophomore transfer to the roster for the upcoming schedule.
The Maroon and White open the winter slate at St. Joseph's on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
