EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette freshman Colleen Fitzpatrick '04 (Springfield, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) was named the Patriot League's Rookie of the Week for the second straight week on Monday, after helping the women's basketball team to a 1-1 record in league play last week.
Fitzpatrick, a native of Springfield, Pa., recorded her second career double-double in Lafayette's win at Colgate on Jan. 31, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She also helped hold Colgate's leading scorer, Colleen McCaffrey, to just eight points on the night, seven points below her average.
The 5-11 forward was the high scorer in the Leopards' loss at Lehigh on Feb. 3, netting a career-high 22 points to finish the week shooting 59 percent from the floor and 73 percent from the free throw line.
Prior to her dominance at Colgate and Lehigh, Fitzpatrick was honored for her outings against Army and Holy Cross. She was 7-for-8 from the floor for 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds in Lafayette's 63-49 win over Army on Jan. 27. She recorded her first career double-double in the Leopards' loss to league-leading Holy Cross on Jan. 24, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Lafayette heads to Lewisburg, Pa., on Wednesday for a rematch with Bucknell (16-5, 6-1 Patriot League) at 5:15 p.m. The Leopards return home on Sunday to face Navy at 1:15 p.m. Both contests will be followed by the men's matchups.
