BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Lafayette's softball team came back from a 19-0 loss in game one to Campbell to take a 1-0 lead in game two, but the Camels opened up the contest in the third inning and pulled through with a 6-1 win.
Lafayette (1-3) jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Laura Schrager scored on a double by Becky Chmielowski. But Campbell came back to score two runs in the third and added four more insurance runs over the next three innings.
Schrager went 1-for-3 in the loss while catcher Becky Foley went 1-for-2. Chmielowsi finished at 1-for-3 with the lone RBI for the Leopards. Freshman pitcher Amy Magos picked up the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits.
Lafayette continues its spring break trip at the George Mason Tournament in Fairfax, Va., this weekend. The Leopards will face off against St. Francis (Pa.), Long Island, Coppin State, Seton Hall and GMU at the three-day event.
