Seton Hall Squeaks By Lafayette Softball, 3-2

Box Score

FAIRFAX, Va. (www.lafayette.edu) - Freshman pitcher Danielle Fesco held Seton Hall to just four hits and two runs in Lafayette's first game at the Patriot Classic on Friday, but the Leopards could not get enough offense going to get past the Pirates as they fell, 3-2.

Seton Hall jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning but the Leopards (1-4) rallied to knot the contest in the third. Laura Schrager was hit by a pitch with two outs, stole second base and scored on a double by Becky Chmielowski. Heather Danchak came in to pinch run for Chmielowski and advanced to third on a passed ball to batter Kelly Wise. Danchak then scored on a single by Wise and the contest was tied, 2-2.

The Pirates (2-4) scored the winning run in the sixth inning on a throwing error by Schrager.

Fesco struck out four batters on the afternoon while Chmielowski and Wise were each 1-for-3 for Lafayette.

The Leopards are scheduled to face Siena on Saturday, weather permitting.
