PHILADELPHIA (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team earned their second victory of the season in a non-conference win over St. Joseph's under the lights in Philadelphia. The Leopards showed offensive power by outscoring the Hawks 4-2 in the second and third quarters and earning a 10-6 victory.
Strong performances were turned in by a trio of seniors who each posted four points in the matchup. Morgan Battle (Princeton, N.J./The Hun School) tallied four goals to lead the Leopards in goals while teammate Drew Stotler (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) dished out four assists on the day. Kevin Bromby (Ipswich, Mass./Governor Dummer), who leads the team in scoring, posted a three-goal day as well as an assist.
Junior Ted Blackburn (Sea Cliff, N.Y./North Shore) handed out an assist to teammate Battle in the first quarter to open the flood gates. He then went on to post two goals in the second quarter. Sophomore Matt Prevost (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) scored his third goal of the season to put the Leopards up 5-2 in the second. Freshman Drew Weisman (Meguon, Wis./Avon Old Farms) earned his first point of the season by posting an assist in the third quarter.
The Hawks (0-4) were led in scoring by junior Bert Whitelock who turned in two goals and an assist.
The Leopards will travel to Lewisburg, Pa., for a league matchup versus Bucknell on March 24 at 1:00.
