Men's Track Takes Fourth in Five-Way Meet

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Ethan Blose (Monroeville, Pa./Franklin Regional) took home a first place in the javelin and and Jim Fischer (Dumont, N.J./Bergen Catholic) notched a first in the shot put to lead the Leopards in a five-way meet with Monmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Joseph's and Rider on Saturday at Fisher Field.

Blose's hurl of 197'8" was good enough to win the javelin. Blose also managed a fourth-place finish in the discus (141'1"). Fischer won the shot with a put of 49' 3 1/2". Fischer also placed third in the hammer (158' 1/2") and a third in the discus (141' 2") to finish off a strong day for the Leopard throwers.

Lafayette also performed well in the jumping events. The Leopards took three of the six places in the high jump. Andrew Maurer (selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove) took third at 5'11" followed by Sidney Gantt (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) and Christopher Nixon (Perrineville, N.J./Peddie School) who tied for fourth with jumps of 5'9". Nixon also claimed a second place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 40'0".

Mark Brault (York, Maine/York) took home second in the pole vault, with an effort of 14'3", six inches off the winner effort.

In the sprints, Herb Kennedy (Troy, N.Y./Troy) took third in the 100 meters in a time of 11.04.

The Leopards (113) finished fourth in the team scoring behind Monmouth (146), St. Joseph's (140) and Rider (114) and ahead of Fairleigh Dickinson (66).

Lafayette returns to action Friday in a home dual meet with Lehigh.
