HAMILTON, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's softball team dropped a doubleheader 7-3, 5-4 to Colgate in Hamilton on Saturday.

Game one action saw the Leopards held scoreless until the seventh inning when freshman Laura Schrager (Montclair, N.J./Montclair-Kimberly Academy) singled to the shortstop to advance to first. Junior co-captain Liz Siliato (San Francisco, Calif./Andover Academy) reached first on an error by Colgate. Freshman Heather Danchak pinch ran for Siliato and score along with Scrager and junior Kelly Wise (Whitestone, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) to bring the Leopard run total to 3.

The second game saw the Leopards come alive by efforts from Mara Shainheit (Mt. Holly, N.J./Rancocas Valley), Becky Chmielowski (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood), Wise, and Siliato, who all went 2-for-4. Schrager went 3-for-3 to lead Lafayette.

The Leopards led 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh. The Lafayette defense couldn't hold on as Colgate's Tina Scharf came home for the winning run on a balk to win game two 5-4.
