PRINCETON, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's and women's outdoor track and field teams recorded five top-five finishes at the 2001 Princeton Invitational, in a meet utilized mostly as a tune-up for next weekend's ECAC/IC4A Championships also at Princeton.
Ambyr Craw '02 (North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex) led the Leopards with a firstplace finish in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet, 11 inches. Also finishing first for Lafayette was the 4x400-meter relay squad of Katie O'Connor '02 (Wrenthram, Mass./King Phillip), Sadie Wetherbee '02 (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads), Natalie Bosserman '04 (Arden, N.C./T.C. Roberson), and Elizabeth Hallowell '04 (Ottsville, Pa./Palisades), which finished in a time of 3:55.00.
Also recording a top-five finish for the women was Jill Schane '04 (Cumbola, Pa./Nativity B.V.M.) in the javelin with a throw of 121 feet, 11 inches.
On the men's side, Jim Fischer '02 (Dumont, N.J./Bergen Catholic) finished third in the discus (157 feet, 10 inches) and fifth in the shot put (51 feet, 1.5 inches). The Leopards also saw sixth-place finishes by both the 4x100-meter relay team (42.24) and the 4x400-meter relay squad (3:19.37).
Lafayette will compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20, at Princeton.
