EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Holy Cross forward Amanda Abraham scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Crusaders over Lafayette 86-56 in Patriot League action on Saturday at the Kirby Sports Center.
Holy Cross (10-4, 2-0) took a 37-16 lead in the first half on a layup by freshman Maggie Fontana. A jumper by Lafayette's Liz Rojahn cut the lead to 37-20 before the Crusaders' Liz O'Connor hit a jumper at the buzzer to give Holy Cross a 44-24 lead going into halftime.
Lafayette (2-12, 0-2) battled to get within 13 points at 12:31 in the second half off a Lindsay Myers jump shot and again off a Jen Corvigno three-pointer. The 13-point deficit was as close as the Leopards would get. Holy Cross stretched the lead to 34 points at the end of the second half as three Crusaders reached double-figures in scoring.
The Crusaders were led by Abraham with 18 points and Katie O'Keefe and Jeanette Paukert with 14 points apiece. Jennifer Bayer led Lafayette with 16 points while Colleen Fitzpatrick added 13 points.
Lafayette returns to action on Jan. 16 at American in a Patriot League doubleheader beginning at 5:15 p.m.
