WEST POINT, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Amy Saal had a career performance as she led the Army women's basketball team to a 73-51 victory over Lafayette in a Patriot League contest at Christl Arena in West Point, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.

The Black Knights opened the second half with a decisive flurry. The Leopards tied the game one last time at 29 with 19:30 remaining before Army rattled off 12 straight points pushing to a 41-29 advantage with 14:11 to play.

Lafayette (2-14, 0-4 Patriot League) would come as close as 10 points (41-31) with 14:11 left in the game. Army, (7-10, 2-2 Patriot League) increased its lead, pushing the gap to 28 points, its largest lead of the day 69-41, with 2:16 remaining.

The Leopards led most of the first half. At 12:48, Lafayette pulled out to its largest lead of the day at seven points (14-7). In the final six minutes of the half, the game saw five lead changes and four ties. Heading into the locker room at the intermission, the two teams were tied at 26.

Kim Costello led the Leopards in scoring with 12 points. Lindsay Meyers added 10 points and led the team with five rebounds.

The Leopards played without leading scorer Colleen Fitzpatrick and center Jen Bayer, who both missed the contest because of ankle injuries suffered in practice.

Lafayette continues a challenging four-game road swing with a 4:30 p.m. contest at Penn on Monday, Jan. 21. The Leopards then return to Patriot League action at Navy on Wednesday, Jan. 23, before returning to Kirby Sports Center to host Colgate on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.
