Lafayette Falls To American 3-0 In Volleyball Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Lafayette Volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-17, 30-20, 30-14) decision to the host American University Eagles in Patriot League action on Friday night.

Caroline Eshman carried over her strong play from Wednesday's victory over Kutztown; recording a team-high nine kills for the Leopards to go along with two solo blocks.

Sophomore setter Heidi Olichwier tallied 18 assists, nine digs, and two service aces for Lafayette (2-25, 0-12), and freshman Catherine Herchenroder added six kills and eight digs.

American (22-6, 12-0) got double digit kills from two players. Catherine Fluegeman and Karla Kucerkova each had 12 kills, and Courtney Mulford set up the Eagles' attack with 41 service aces.

Lafayette makes the short trip from the Washington, D.C. area to Annapolis for a match against Navy on Saturday at 7 p.m.
