Lafayette Track Teams Host Invitational to Open Their Seasons

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's and women's track teams started their seasons by hosting the Lafayette Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Kirby Sports Center. East Stroudsburg, Kutztown, Moravian, Rider and St. Joseph's all competed in the events.

Christopher Nixon and Jon Apostoles brought home first-place finishes in the 60- and 440-yard dashes, respectively for the Leopards, while Reginald Clay took second in the 880-yard dash.

Ethan Blose placed third in the shot put, while Kristopher Carey (60-yard dash), John Farkas (440-yard dash), and Brett Harvey (880-yard dash) each claimed third-place finishes.

In the women's competition, Natalie Bosserman won the 440-yard dash and Kathleen Evangelista took home first in the 500-meter race for the Leopards.

Elizabeth Hallowell gave the Leopards their only second-place performance in the 500-meter race. Jackie Bingham (20-lb. weight), Monica Hammond (440-yard dash), and Julie Harms (880-yard dash) each earned a third-place finish for Lafayette.

Lafayette returns to action at the Fordham Invitational on Jan. 10.
