Women's Hoops Falls To Navy

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Despite a late second-half run, the Lafayette women's basketball team came up short versus league foe Navy and fell 50-45 to the Midshipmen.

Lafayette (3-22, 1-11) climbed out to a 16-9 lead off a Colleen Fitzpatrick layup at 9:15. Navy woke up to go on a 14-0 run capped by Maile Shimoda's three-pointer with 1:50 left in the first half. The Leopards' Samaiyah Council sank two free throws to send her team into halftime, trailing 23-18.

The Mids crept out to a 14-point lead (36-22) on an Adrienne Roseti jumper at 13:04. Lafayette began clawing its way back and got within three points five different times late in the second half. Laurie Infantino sank her lone three-pointer of the day to put the 'Pards behind 44-41, and Fitzpatrick made a layup for another three-point deficit (46-43) at 1:08. Navy shot 4-6 from the line in the final minute of play to seal the 50-45 win.

Navy's Shimoda and Courtney Davidson led with 14 points apiece while Adrienne Roseti chipped in 12 points.

Rojahn led the Leopards with 13 points while Fitzpatrick added nine.

Lafayette returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts league rival Lehigh at 5:30 p.m.
