Lafayette Women's Basketball Drops Regular Season Closer at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's basketball team dropped its season closer at Colgate on Saturday, 94-75. Laurie Infantino notched a career-high 18 points and Jennifer Bayer recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards in the loss.

Colgate (13-16, 7-7) raced out to an 11-point lead (15-4) capped by two Allison Lipinski free throws early in the first half. Lipinski went on to shoot 6-of-8 from beyond the arc on her way to 20 first-half points for the Raiders. Lafayette came back to within five in the closing seconds of the first half on an Infantino jumper, but Colgate's Lipinski snuck in a three-pointer at the buzzer for a 49-41 Raider lead at the half.

The Raiders stretched their lead to a 13-point advantage on a Lipinski jumper at 14:23. The Leopards began clawing their way back and got within five (64-59) on a Samaiyah Council jumper at 11:26. Colgate responded to go on an 18-2 run to go ahead 82-61 on a Lipinski three-pointer at 7:35. The Raiders kept a double-figure lead for the remainder of the game as they broke the .500 mark at 7-7 in Patriot League play.

Infantino and Bayer led Lafayette with 18 points while Elizabeth Rojahn added 12 points. Council added nine points and handed out five assists in the loss.

Lipinski led four Raider in double-figures with 28 points as the freshman broke a league record for three-pointers in a season (96) and a Colgate record for trifectas in a single game (8). Victoria Briscoe added 18 points while Leandra Fuller had 12 and Malissa Burke chipped in 10 points. Fuller also had five blocks while Burke dished out 8 assists.

Lafayette (3-24, 1-13) travels to Upper Marlboro, Md. this weekend to participate in the Patriot League Tournament. The Leopards face regular season champions Holy Cross in the first round with tip-off scheduled for 12 p.m. on Friday.
