HAMILTON, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Colgate used a six-goal outburst to take a 7-2 halftime lead and hold on for a 13-6 win over Lafayette on Saturday in Patriot League men's lacrosse action.

Lafayette held a lead early on in the game. Matt Prevost connected for a goal 2:15 into the first quarter to give Lafayette a 1-0 lead. The Leopards led for four and a half minutes before Colgate's Joe Parker tied the game with an unassisted tally at 6:44. Parker finished the day with four goals and two assists.

Colgate rattled off four more goals in the closing minutes of the first quarter and the opening minutes of the second to lead 5-1.

Pat Lennon scored a goal 3:48 into the second quarter on an assist from Ted Blackburn, but Colgate responded with four more goals to take a 8-2 lead at halftime.

Lennon and Blackburn again got together for a goal at 2:37 in the third. D.J. Krueger followed with a goal at 4:29 on an assist from Mike Fiorillo. Colgate led 9-4 at the end of the third quarter.

Blackburn scored two unassisted goals in the fourth quarter to finish with four points on the day.

Lafayette received strong play in goal from Mike Neary who made 15 saves equalling the effort of Colgate goalie Chris Hettler.

The Leopards (1-5) return home to face Lehigh on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
