Softball Swept By Colgate

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette softball team dropped a doubleheader to league foe Colgate on Sunday at Metzgar Field. Colgate (10-10, 4-0) won the first game 5-0 and the second game 7-0.

A solid pitching effort by Colgate's Elena Isaac limited the Leopards to just one hit in game one while she struck out seven batters. Freshman Danielle Bernotsky doubled to left center in the bottom of the fourth inning for Lafayette's lone hit of the game.

The Raiders' Rachel Smith brought in every Colgate run with five RBI on a 2-for-3 effort from the plate.

Colgate third baseman Amanda Paolucci led the Raiders with two RBI on 2-for-4 hitting in game two. Natalie Rawson brought in two runs while Amanda Brickell recorded two hits on three at-bats for Colgate. The Raiders' Rachel Prong was strong on the mound with six strikeouts, two walks and four hits.

Lafayette's Kelly Wise, Becky Foley, Leigh Minarick and Erin Allison recorded the four hits for the Leopards in game two.

Lafayette (1-12, 0-4) returns to action on Tuesday when it hosts Rider for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
