EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -
Terri Dadio Campbell, a 1992 Lafayette College graduate, has been tabbed to take over the women's volleyball program at Lafayette. The move is a historic one, as Campbell is the first full-time head coach in the program's 29-year history.
Campbell served as the women's volleyball head coach at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. from 1993 to 2000 where she accumulated a record of 159-48 (.768). She guided the program to its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999 with a 22-7 record.
"Terri Dadio Campbell brings a proven record as a women's volleyball coach, and has consistently shown the ability to build programs," said Director of Athletics Bruce McCutcheon. "Her hiring as a full-time head coach shows our commitment to turning volleyball into a competitive program."
In her seven seasons at Washington and Lee, Campbell's squads racked up five regular-season titles in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and four ODAC Tournament titles. She was recognized by her peers as the conference's coach of the year three times, winning the honor in 1995, 1997 and 1998. Campbell was also selected as the Coach of the Year in the state of Virginia in 1995 and 1998.
Campbell also served as the women's basketball coach and a physical education professor at Washington and Lee. In 2000-01, she worked as an assistant women's basketball coach at Princeton University.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to return to Lafayette and build the women's volleyball program into a competitive intercollegiate program," Campbell said. "My personal experiences as a student-athlete at Lafayette were very positive and certainly aided in my overall growth and maturity. I hope to convey this to prospective student-athletes and help provide them with an outstanding academic and athletic experience."
Campbell played varsity basketball at Lafayette from 1988 to 1992. She ranks fifth all-time on the career scoring list (1,283), fourth in career steals (199) and sixth in career assists (217). Campbell served as a team captain in her junior and senior years and earned All-Patriot League First Team honors and team MVP laurels in 1990-91 and 1991-92.
In 1996, Campbell earned her master's degree in special education at The College of New Jersey where she was a member of the women's basketball coaching staff in 1992-93.
Campbell is a graduate of Freedom High School in Bethlehem. She was an assistant volleyball coach at Freedom during her sophomore, junior and senior years at Lafayette.
