HAMILTON, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) -Despite a 17-kill performance from freshman Veronica Canto-Ponce (La Jolla, Calif.) the Leopards dropped a 3-0 decision to Colgate on Wednesday night.
With game scores of 30-26, 30-22, and 30-11, the Leopards fall to 5-11, (0-3 Patriot League) for the season.
Canto-Ponce led the way for the Leopards with her 17-kill match. Junior Erin Brune (Pasadena, Calif.) and senior Caroline Eshman (Bethesda, Md.) each had five kills for Lafayette. Eshman also led the team defensively with 12 digs. Junior Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill.) had 29 assists in the match.
Caity Whiteaker and Allie Nichols each had 10 kills for Colgate. Alana Elsner had 34 assists while Natalie Rawson had 15 digs for the Raiders.
Lafayette will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 4 as they travel to Bucknell for their fourth Patriot League contest of 2003.
