Lafayette Volleyball Falls to American, 3-0

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -Despite a 13-kill performance from freshman Veronica Canto-Ponce (La Jolla, Calif.) the Leopard volleyball team fell to American 3-0 (17-30, 19-30, 19-30) on Friday night.

Fellow freshman Shannon Fisher (Coplay, Pa.) also recorded seven kills for Lafayette. Junior co-captain Heidi Olichwier (Arlington Heights, Ill.) led the team with 28 assists while also tallying seven digs. Freshman Amanda Bodkin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.)had a team high nine digs for the Leopards.

American, who sits atop the Patriot League with a record of 13-8, 9-0, was led by Karla Kucerkova with 19 kills and nine digs. Sabrina Vasconcelos and Courtney Mulford combined for 42 assists in the match.

Lafayette falls to 5-17, 0-7 with the loss.

The Leopard volleyball team will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25 when the host Patriot League foe Navy at 7 p.m. in Kirby Sports Center.
