EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) -The Lafayette volleyball team dropped its tenth straight Patriot League contest to 3-0 (29-31, 15-30, 24-30) to Bucknell on Friday evening.
The Leopards came out strong, leading the first game 22-11 at one point. However, the Bison battled back and won three straight matches behind Brandi Trapasso's 11 kills.
Lafayette was led by Veronica Canto-Ponce (La Jolla, Calif.) who continued her current streak of double digit kills, recording 14 versus Bucknell. The freshman right side hitter also tallied 10 digs, two service aces, and two blocks. Canto-Ponce leads Lafayette with 277 kills and 48 service aces this season.
Amanda Bodkin (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) also recorded 10 digs, along with three kills and two service aces and two blocks. Senior Maria Kinzel (Caldwell, N.J.) and freshman Shannon Fisher (Coplay, Pa.) also added nine digs each.
Bucknell's Jackie Leahy and Jennie Smith also added eight kills apiece for the Bison. Jessica Bissett recorded three blocks for the Bison, while Breean Trapasso added three service aces and 32 assists in the match.
Lafayette falls to 5-20 overall, 0-10 in the Patriot League. Bucknell improves to 13-9, 9-1 with the win.
The Leopards will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 1 against Colgate at 5 p.m. in Kirby Sports Center.
