FAIRFIELD, Conn. (www.lafayette.edu) -Sophomore Katie Kokolus (Nazareth, Pa.) scored a career high 21 points as the Leopards fell 92-59 in a non-conference match up to Sacred Heart on Tuesday night.
Senior Colleen Fitzpatrick (Springfield, Pa.) added 11 in the Leopards' second loss of the season while Brianne Welte (Owosso, Mich.) grabbed a team high six rebounds.
Sacred Heart's Colleen Duggan opened up the scoring and the Pioneers never looked back, getting ahead by eight less than four minutes into the game. At the half, Sacred Heart led by 21, paced by freshman Amanda Pape's 16 points.
Kokolus, who also had a game high six steals, attempted to spark a Lafayette comeback early in the second, scoring eight points in under two minutes to get the Leopards within 18 at the 15:00 mark.
Pape, who had 23 total points, and the tireless Pioneer offense never slowed, leading by 30 with 4:00 left in the game. A 15 point effort by Mary Rush and a 13 point contribution by guard Ashley Kohl helped lead Sacred Heart (2-0), who also dominated defensively, led by Kate Maher's 12 rebounds.
Lafayette (0-2) returns to the road on Saturday, Nov. 29 as they travel to St. Peter's in their third non-conference match up of the season.
