HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Lafayette softball team was swept by Colgate, 9-0 and 8-0, in Patriot League action on Sunday afternoon. Elena Isaac tossed a pair of one-hit shutouts on the day for her third and fourth shutouts of the season.
In the opener, Colgate jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning courtesy of a two-run homer by Melissa Rawson and an RBI double by Amanda Brickell.
The Raiders tacked on five more runs in the second inning for an 8-0 lead. Dorothy Donaldson's three-run blast highlighted the inning.
Danielle Bernotsky had the only hit for the Leopards in the first game. Megan Longo suffered the pitching loss giving up 12 hits and nine runs in three and two-thirds innings.
In the second game, Colgate opened the scoring in the first inning as Donaldson doubled home Tara McDevitt. Stacy Mui then put the Raiders up 2-0 with a solo shot over the right field wall in the home half of the second.
Colgate smacked two more long balls in the game, one by Rawson and another by Natalie Rawson en route to the 8-0 win.
Meghan Davis notched the lone Leopard base hit in game two. Lauren Belowich gave up 11 hits and eight runs in four innings of work.
Lafayette (5-29, 1-17) wraps up Patriot League action with a make-up doubleheader at Colgate on Monday at 12 p.m.
