EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Two goals less than two minutes apart accounted for all the scoring as Lafayette's women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Rider on Wednesday at Metzgar Fields.
Freshman forward Kelli McMahon (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) scored her team-high fourth goal of the season at the 30:42 mark to put the Leopards ahead, 1-0. Rider's Jennifer Marcella evened the score at 32:40, taking a cross in the box and scoring from six yards.
Lafayette junior goalkeeper Amy Kalista (Metuchen, N.J./Metuchen) made 10 saves to preserve the tie.
Lafayette, 1-4-3 overall, has earned more draws this season than in any other single season in the 14-year history of the program. The Leopards tied a pair of matches in both the 1994 and 1997 seasons.
The Leopards open Patriot League play on Saturday, traveling to Lehigh for a 7 p.m. match.
