Box Score

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lehigh scored twice in the first half, then added a goal on a penalty kick in the second in a 3-0 win over Lafayette in Patriot League women's soccer action on Monday.

The Mountain Hawks (9-5-0 overall, 3-1-0 Patriot League) took control of the match early, netting their first goal just 13:11 into the match. Jocelyn Helwig dribbled the ball up the left side, then played a crossing pass to Melissa Montalvo, who beat Lafayette keeper Amy Kalista to the far post.

Helwig also assisted on Lehigh's second tally, playing a ball into the left side of the box, that, after a scramble in front, Jennifer Fetsick knocked into an open net.

Gina Lewandowski netted her 10th goal of the season on a penalty kick at 59:03. A handball was called inside the box, and Lewandowski put her shot into the top right corner.

Lafayette had its best scoring opportunity midway through the second half. Ellie Burke took a lead pass and broke free down the left sideline off a restart, but her shot from just outside the box was corralled by Erin Iwaskiewicz.

Iwaskiewicz made a pair of saves in earning her fifth shutout of the season. Kalista made four saves in her first appearance since suffering a broken jaw and cheekbone at Fordham on Sept. 21.

Lehigh held a 13-3 edge in shots and 8-0 advantage in corners in the match.

Lafayette (3-10-0, 0-5-0) returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Wagner in a non-league contest at 7 p.m.
