Women's Basketball Falls to Harvard, 84-40

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior center Reka Cserny scored 23 points and three other players tallied nine apiece as Harvard defeated Lafayette, 84-40, on Saturday night in Kirby Sports Center.

Cserny's 8-of-13 shooting effort led the way for a Crimson squad that hit 31-of-57 shots (54.4 percent) for the contest. Harvard shot a blistering 70.8 percent (17-of-24) in building a 43-15 halftime lead.

Harvard (4-1) led 8-7 early in the first half before embarking on a 14-0 run that lasted just over five minutes. The Crimson later put together a 10-0 run that bumped the lead to 32-9 with just under four minutes remaining in the first half.

Lafayette (2-3) would get no closer than 28 in the second half.

Cserny added six rebounds and three blocks to her season-high scoring effort. Shana Franklin, Jessica Holsey and Katie Murphy all chipped in nine points as 11 different players tallied at least three points for Harvard.

Kara Stetler led Lafayette with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. She converted 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and added four rebounds and three steals.

Lafayette is back in action on Dec. 9, hosting UMBC in the final game of a three-game homestand. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in Kirby Sports Center.
