EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Penn scored the game's first 12 points and held Lafayette to 3-of-27 shooting in the first half en route to a 68-33 win in non-league women's basketball action on Monday.
Joey Rhoads scored 14 points, hitting all five of her field goal attempts, off the bench to pace the Quakers. She scored 11 of Penn's first 21 points, including eight straight midway through the first half. Jennifer Fleischer just missed a double-double, collecting 10 points and nine boards. She also blocked six Lafayette shots.
Lafayette missed its first 11 shots and never recovered. Penn led 29-11 at the half, with all three of the Leopards' field goals coming from beyond the arc. The lead grew to as many as 38 late in the second half.
The Leopards' 33 total points matched a season-low and equaled the lowest offensive output by a Lafayette team since an 84-28 loss at St. Joseph's on Jan. 6, 1996.
For Penn (6-6), the 35-point margin of victory was the largest since a 79-43 win over Columbia on Jan. 28, 2000.
Four players scored six points apiece for Lafayette. Maureen Johnson collected six points and four rebounds, while Lindsay Myers tacked on six points and four steals.
Penn, despite a distinct size advantage, held a slim 42-41 edge on the boards. The Leopards equaled a season-low with 18 turnovers.
Monica Naltner and Maria DiDonato chipped in nine points for Penn, while Karen Habrukowich and Lauren Pears added eight apiece.
Lafayette (2-11) continues its six-game homestand on Wednesday, hosting Lehigh at 5:30 p.m.
