EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Army's Cara Enright and Jen Hansen both tallied 20 points and the Black Knights out-scored Lafayette 28-16 at the foul line on their way to an 82-77 overtime win in Patriot League women's basketball action on Sunday.

Lafayette was whistled for 31 personal fouls in the contest, compared to just 13 for Army, and shot less than half as many free throws (16-of-19) as the Black Knights (28-of-42).

Still, the Leopards managed to erase a nine-point deficit in the final 3:30 of regulation and force overtime on Lindsay Myers' 12-foot jumper off a Maureen Johnson inbounds pass at the buzzer.

Enright hit the first of two foul shots with 18 seconds left in regulation to put Army (13-11 overall, 6-5 Patriot League) in front 68-64, but Myers penetrated at the offensive end and found Vanessa Van De Venter underneath for a lay-up with eight seconds remaining. The teams traded timeouts, and the Leopards regained possession on a held ball in the frontcourt with two seconds left. Twice the inbounds pass was deflected out of play by Army, and just 0.9 seconds showed on the clock when Johnson hit Myers with the inbounds pass on the right wing.

Lafayette (4-20, 2-9) actually went in front by two points before the overtime period started. A technical foul was called on the Army bench as the teams were taking the floor, and Kristin Doherty canned both foul shots to put the Leopards in front, 70-68. Doherty hit a triple on Lafayette's second possession to stretch the lead to three, 73-70, but the Black Knights would win the game at the foul line. Army was just 2-of-3 from the field in the extra session, but hit 10-of-11 free throws. Lafayette shot a total of nine foul shots after halftime, including just two in overtime, and was 3-of-8 from the floor in the extra period.

The teams traded shots nearly the entire 45 minutes, with the score being tied 11 times and the lead changing hands on seven occasions. The teams were within five points of one another for all but 2:30 of the contest.

Van De Venter, who finished with a game-high 22 points, scored 16 after halftime and carried the Leopard offense throughout much of the second half. She scored 12 of Lafayette's 17 points over a span of 9:37 in the second stanza. She was 5-of-6 from the floor during that stretch, while the rest of the team was 2-of-9. Van De Venter was 9-of-14 from the floor before fouling out late in overtime.

Myers collected 18 points, six rebounds six assists and four steals in 39 minutes. She, too, fouled out during the extra session. Stetler was also in double figures with 11 points. The sophomore was 3-of-7 from beyond the arc before fouling out with just under three minutes left in regulation.

Hansen was 5-of-11 from three for Army, including three critical triples midway through the second half that served as answers to Van De Venter's clutch baskets for the Leopards.

Enright was 4-of-6 from three en route to her fifth game of at least 20 points in the last seven Army contests. Also in double figures for Army were Shavonne Holden with 14 and Lindsay Brent with 10.

Sunday was Senior Day in Kirby Sports Center, with Lafayette honoring center Brianne Welte and forward Naida Dupovac.

The Leopards play two of their final three on the road, beginning with a trip to American on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. in Bender Arena.
