Softball Falls to Colgate in League Doubleheader

HAMILTON, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Erin O'Keefe went 5-for-6, including two home runs, and three other players had four hits on the day as Colgate handed Lafayette two losses, 9-1 and 8-0, in Patriot League softball on Sunday.

O'Keefe hit both homers and drove in six runs in the second game, while shortstop Natalie Rawson was also 3-for-3 and scored twice for Colgate (12-11, 6-2).

Kelsey Nordstrom (game one) and Kate Howard (game two) earned their second wins of the weekend, and allowed just two hits in each contest.

The middle of the order (Dorothy Donaldson, Nichole Rawson and Whitney Scott) went 8-for-9 in the first game, with Donaldson scoring three times and Scott picking up three RBIs.

Colgate led 2-0 after three innings before Michelle Ellis walked, stole second and scored on a double by Kristen Ruckno in the fourth. The Raiders proceeded to score seven runs in the next three frames to put the game away.

Lafayette (5-26, 2-10) will host Maryland-Eastern Shore in a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday at Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex.
