Women's Soccer Shut Out at Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - Shannon Fraser scored two goals in the first 18 minutes and Cornell remains undefeated in 2005 with a 4-0 win over Lafayette in women's soccer on Sunday.

Kara Ishikawa, who assisted on each of the first two goals, set up the first score with a hard shot and Fraser finished up on the deflection just 1:17 into the match. Fraser headed in a cross from Ishikawa at the 17:47 mark to give Cornell a 2-0 advantage.

Ishikawa put her side up 3-0 in the 26th minute, scoring on a rebound following a free kick. Jessica Schindler was credited with the assist. Kaitlin Dufton finished the scoring with an unassisted goal in the second half.

Taylor Hendren wasn't tested in her 65 minutes in goal for Cornell. Katrina Matlin made two saves to complete the shutout. Mary Kate Erdman made 10 saves for Lafayette, while freshman Hannah Fink saw her first collegiate action and had a pair of saves in 23:06 in the net.

Next up for Lafayette (1-4-2) is a trip to Staten Island, N.Y. to take on Wagner on Saturday, Sept. 24. The match will start at 4 p.m.
