WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team (10-12, 2-4) dropped a 3-0 decision to American on Friday night in Washington, D.C. Junior Megan Carter led the Leopards with double figures in both assists and digs.
Carter tallied 20 assists and 11 digs against the Eagles, but it was not enough to propel the Leopards to victory as they suffered 30-27, 30-17 and 30-16 losses. Sophomore Kari Horn led the team with 13 digs while freshman Kayly Elmer's 10 kills were a team-best.
Lafayette tallied 29 kills and 40 digs on the night against American, who improved to 6-0 in Patriot League play. The Leopards also finished with seven blocks, including two from both senior Maura Kelly and junior Ainhoa Barturen, who each added one solo block and one block assist.
The Leopards, who have won four of their previous six matches, continue Patriot League play when they travel to Navy tomorrow for a 5 p.m. match.
