BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette women's soccer team fell victim to two second halfs Lehigh goal, as the Leopards fell 2-0 on Saturday night at Lehigh's Ulrich Sports Complex.

Early in the first half, Lehigh's Melissa Montalvo found herself alone one on one against Lafayette senior goalkeeper Mary Kate Erdman, but Erdman was up to the challenge, as she dropped her left hand down to save the low shot.

Lehigh got on the board in the 60th minute when a rebound was placed in by Liz Carlos tapped in the loose ball to put Lehigh up 1-0.

The Leopards looked for the equalizer three minutes later as they got the ball deep into the Lehigh defense. A Katie Roberts shot sailed just wide and kept the Mountain Hawks ahead by the slimmest of margins.

Lehigh added an insurance goal with just over five minutes to play, when Jen Fetsick collected the ball in the box after a corner and fired a shot to the bottom left corner.

Lafayette looked as though they were going to respond less than two minutes later, but a Kelly Koreyva shot traveled just wide of the net and Lehigh held on for the 2-0 victory.

Erdman tallied eight saves in the game while Julie Kafka and Lauren Mains combined for the Lehigh victory.

Head coach Mick Statham was pleased with the second half effort and hopes the energy continues to the training field this week and next weekend's league matchups.

"The first half was disappointing," Statham said. "I thought we were slow to react to the stage. In the second half, we gave a much better account of ourselves and we played the game like a local derby should be played."

The Leopards will hit the road next weekend, traveling to Colgate next Friday and Bucknell on Sunday in Patriot League action.
