HAMILTON, N.Y. - Colgate senior Franny Iacuzzi scored a goal and added an assist, as the Raiders handed the Lafayette women's soccer team a 4-0 defeat on Friday evening at Van Doren Field.
Josie Johnson gave Colgate an early lead, scoring 4:56 into the contest. Johnson brought the ball in from midfield and passed the ball off to Iacuzzi on the right flank. Iacuzzi crossed the ball in from the right corner to the far post and Johnson was there to play a perfect header, sending the ball past Lafayette goalkeeper Mary Kate Erdman and into the right corner.
The Raiders went on to score two more goals in a matter of 1:22 to take a 3-0 lead.
Sophomore Christine Walker sent in a cross from the right side and the ball bent in towards the goal and went in just inside the far post before Erdman was able to get to the opposite side of the net at 28:23.
The duo of Johnson and Iacuzzi paired up for Colgate's third goal at 29:45 when Johnson sent a perfect centering pass to Iacuzzi who was right on the doorstep to knock it past the right of Erdman.
Freshman Mackenzie Moore had the Leopards' best opportunity of the game with five minutes remaining when she beat her defender on the near side and went one-on-one with Glass. Moore lofted the shot from the corner of the 18-yard box and Glass was able to make the stop.
The Raiders improve to 9-7-1 and 2-3 in the Patriot League, while the Leopards fall to 3-13 and 0-5 in the league.
The Leopards continue their finish up their road weekend in Lewisburg, Pa. on Sunday when they face Bucknell at 1 p.m.
